Friday March 9, 2007 was one of the saddest days we’ve had to experience. Zephyr Lindsay was one of our 2 Golden Retrievers who meant everything to us. She can be seen on the lindsaylights website in a few of our setup pictures as she loved being around people. The above picture shows Zephyr supervising the installation of the driveway arches back in November, 2006. She missed a lot of walks around the Xmas season because all our time went into the lights….thanks for understanding, Zephyr.
Throughout a week of trauma, in and out of the vet, vomiting, not eating, etc., the Veterinarians had no idea what caused her sickness, or what her sickness was. It was thought that she had Vestibular disease, then Leptospirosis, poisoning, then possibly cancer (though a couple of these were ruled out). No matter what drugs she was given, her body continued shutting down. Within 6 days of her falling sick, we could see in her eyes that she had enough of the sickness, drugs, probing, and testing. We had no choice but to save her from this misery and let her go to a better place. Euthanizing Zephyr was the hardest decision I ever had to make. She was the most innocent, gentle, sweetest, loving dog.
It’s a sense of loss that can truly be understood and felt only by those who’ve experienced the passing of a deeply loved family pet.
Zephyr, a family member that will forever be missed…a friend more loyal, affectionate, trusting, and honest than any human can be.
