We spent 2 very long days (Jan 14 & 20) tearing all the lights down with help from Slobodan, Hus, and Angela.  Amazingly we were able to get all the lights down excluding the big blue maple in the front yard.  Another week or so was spent organizing and storing the lights.  Although not complete, almost everything is stored away.  Thanks very much to everyone that helped out…those were two VERY long days!

Thanks to our neighbours for bringing us hot chocolate..what a treat when working out in the cold for 15 hours.

You may ask why it takes more than a month to setup the display, and only a matter of days to tear down.  Removing the lights is easy because there really isn’t any planning involved.  Setting up has to be done in order, so there is a lot of planning, plus a lot of measurements need to be made.  It takes days installing thousands of staples to hold each bulb in position, but takes minutes to rip those staples out.  Also the grass grid takes days to install, because it’s accurately measured and spaced for best effect.  It only takes minutes to pull that apart.  So you can see where we’re going with this.

We will be passing on the collected money to local charities in the coming months.  Thanks again to everyone who donated.
